Breathing Calculator
The Breathing Air & Oxygen and CO₂ Consumption Calculator provides an interesting way to estimate the amount of oxygen consumed and carbon dioxide expelled throughout a person’s life based on their breathing patterns. On average, a healthy person takes about 16 breaths per minute, with each breath consuming approximately 0.5 liters of air.
The calculator uses these averages to estimate the total number of breaths a person has taken since birth, and from that, it calculates the total oxygen consumed (approximately 21% of the air) and the carbon dioxide expelled (about 0.8 liters of CO₂ for each liter of oxygen consumed).
By converting these volumes into grams and kilograms, the calculator gives a simple yet fascinating insight into the scale of the body’s respiratory processes over a lifetime. This tool serves as both an educational and a thought-provoking way to understand the amount of oxygen we rely on and the carbon dioxide we release every day.
